NAMM welcomes its global retail members to be recognized for retail excellence as part of the organization’s annual Top 100 Dealer Awards. Now in its eight year and held during the Summer NAMM Show (June 25-28) in Nashville, the annual awards honor retailers who have demonstrated a commitment to best-practices, creativity and innovation in music products retail.

The global leaders in the music, pro audio and event technology industries came together in Anaheim, California last week for the annual NAMM Show, a crossroads of business opportunities with innovative product debuts, fresh inspiration from over 500 educational sessions, and the immeasurable power of 115,085 registered industry professionals gathering to advance the industry forward over four days of the annual conference.

Winners in 31 technical and creative achievement categories were announced at the 33rd Annual NAMM TEC AWARDS presented annually by the NAMM Foundation and held Saturday, January 27 in Anaheim, CA. The annual event recognizes the individuals, companies and technical innovations behind the sound of recordings, live performances, films, television, video games and multi-media. Comedian and multi-instrumentalist Demetri Martin hosted.

Yesterday at The 2018 NAMM Show, 33 NAMM member companies were honored with the NAMM Milestone Award. The award, presented by NAMM President and CEO Joe Lamond, recognizes music businesses that have flourished through changing business environments to reach a noteworthy anniversary.

Earlier today at the Annual Meeting of Members at The 2018 NAMM Show, the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) welcomed eight new board members to the organization’s Board of Directors. Each board member will serve a three-year term and provide oversight, input and direction to the organization.

At the opening Breakfast of Champions session of The 2018 NAMM Show, legendary musician, songwriter, GRAMMY® Lifetime Achievement Award recipient and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Bob Weir was presented with the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) “Music for Life” award. The award honors his inspiring five decades-long career of influencing musical styles, sound design and the music business, as well as the many risks he and bandmates took along the way to become the iconic band that they are today.

With only 22 days until the start of The 2018 NAMM Show, The NAMM Campus is set to come alive with a variety of Bands@NAMM performers, and at night, showcasing talent from the likes of groundbreaking multimedia artists, legendary performers and a multi-platinum pop singer-songwriter on The NAMM Yamaha Grand Plaza Stage.

Turnaround Arts and The NAMM Foundation will implement a research project to explore the impact, value and efficacy of The NAMM Foundation’s investment in Turnaround Arts schools’ music departments. Since Turnaround Arts’ creation in 2012, The NAMM Foundation has contributed more than $550,000 in music education expansion grants to 70 Turnaround Arts schools nationwide. Turnaround Arts is a program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

The NAMM Foundation has announced that singer-songwriter Jackson Browne will receive the prestigious Les Paul Innovation Award at the 33rd Annual NAMM Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards (NAMM TEC Awards), being held Saturday, January 27, 2018 in Anaheim, CA.

Pensado’s Place, the hour-long weekly web series co-hosted by legendary mix engineer Dave Pensado (Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Mariah Carey, Elton John, Michael Jackson and others) and show creator, Herb Trawick, will host the first-ever Pensado’s NAMM JAM at The 2018 NAMM Show (January 25-28) in Anaheim, California.

At the 33rd Annual NAMM Technical Excellence and Creativity Awards (TEC Awards), eight products and technologies inspired by a series of global sound pioneers will find their place in audio history when they are inducted into NAMM’s prestigious TECnology Hall of Fame. The ceremony, and later the awards show, will take place Saturday, January 27, as part of The 2018 NAMM Show.

The NAMM Foundation and Collings Guitars have announced a memorial fund in honor of legendary luthier and longtime NAMM member, Bill Collings. Collings was the founder and leader of Collings Guitars, a maker of acoustic, electric, and archtop guitars, and mandolins; instruments that are world-renowned for their quality craftsmanship, elegance and sonic personalities, inspired legions of professional and amateur musicians, as well as emerging luthiers.
