School districts and schools across the country have the opportunity to receive national recognition for their commitment to providing students with access to comprehensive music education. NAMM Foundation’s 2016 Best Communities for Music Education (district) and SupportMusic Merit Award (individual school) surveys are now open. Music teachers and school administrators are invited to complete the 2016 survey between now until Saturday, January 30, 2016.

The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus hits the road this fall to help keep music education strong in six of NAMM Foundation’s Best Communities for Music Education. The tour includes SupportMusic Forums and Lennon Bus residencies. During the residencies, students will have the unique opportunity to write, record, and produce original songs and music videos. The NAMM Foundation will host a SupportMusic Community Forum at each school inviting educators, NAMM members and community leaders to galvanize local support for music education.

The NAMM MUSEUM of Making Music (MoMM), a division of the NAMM Foundation, raised more than $45,000 at its annual “Play it Forward” Gala on Sunday, October 4. The gala featured an intimate performance by music legends Mavis Staples and Joan Osborne, and spirited live and silent auctions. All of the funds raised will help to offset the operating costs of the Museum's year-round music education programs, which serve thousands of children, adults and seniors each year.

The global music products industry can expect to see thousands of business opportunities and expanding member benefits on arrival to Anaheim for the 2016 NAMM Show. The more than 96,000 people expected to attend from January 21 to 24 will have the chance to experience the latest in music instruments and products, while learning from fellow industry leaders about the best music-business practices. The 2016 NAMM Show floor plan posted today, offers a first look at new features, pavilions, education areas and more.

The NAMM Foundation announces nominees for its 31st Annual NAMM Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards in the categories of Outstanding Technical and Creative Achievement. The awards celebrate the best in professional audio and sound production. Voting begins December 1st, with winners announced at a Saturday evening, January 23, 2016 awards event held in the Anaheim Hilton’s Pacific Ballroom and via a live event web stream during the 2016 NAMM Show.

The NAMM Foundation is supporting the promising careers of seven hard-working students who have earned the William R. Gard Memorial Scholarship for 2015. The award is one of several contributions that NAMM makes to strengthen the future of the music-products industry by investing in college students who wish to lead NAMM member companies.

College students studying for careers in music may now apply for the President’s Innovation Award. The award offers music industry leaders-in-training the opportunity to attend the 2016 NAMM Show by providing $600 to offset travel costs. Award recipients will join the global music industry in Anaheim, CA to experience the show and attend Generation Next.

NAMM joined national and regional partners including Americans for the Arts, Iowa Alliance for Arts Education, Iowa Arts Council, The United States Conference of Mayors, Americans for the Arts Action Fund, and Bravo Greater Des Moines to present the Iowa Arts Advocacy Caucus in Des Moines, IA during the state fair. The event with Iowa’s arts and culture leaders offered advocacy training as a prelude to Iowa’s presidential caucus process.

Badge registration and hotel bookings are now open for NAMM members planning to attend the 2016 NAMM Show. This year’s earlier opening offers NAMM members time to prepare for their trip to Anaheim, January 21-24, 2016. Attending the NAMM Show opens doors to 5,000 music product brands, a global buying audience, special events, dozens of educational sessions, and endless live music.

As market confidence builds, the music industry arrived in Nashville, July 9-11, hungry for new products and ideas. Double-digit growth in Summer NAMM exhibitors, thousands of products, rocking events and countless educational offerings converged for NAMM’s largest mid-year gathering in seven years. While business was the focus, no one failed to mention Nashville’s music scene as the perfect opportunity to connect with friends.

The NAMM executive committee enjoys a seamless succession welcoming Joel Menchey and honoring outgoing Chair Morton during Summer NAMM. The changing of the guard started Saturday, July 11 during the annual summer board meeting held in Nashville, TN.
