Make Music Winter, a free, outdoor music-making celebration on the winter solstice, returns this year on Saturday, Dec. 21 with joyful and dynamic participatory musical parades, performances and events in more than 30 U.S. cities. The all-day musical celebration on the shortest day of the year brings together people of all ages, backgrounds, musical abilities and styles to sing, play, march and dance their way across streets, parks and other public spaces.

Ahead of The 2020 NAMM Show, the global gathering of music and pro audio products and entertainment technologies, top sound manufacturers will return to present a showcase of line array and loudspeaker technologies at the second annual Loudspeaker System Showcase.

The Parnelli Awards Board of Advisors announces that prolific songwriter and one of rock’s greatest singers, John Waite, will be the host for the 19th Annual Parnelli Awards held at The 2020 NAMM Show inside the Hilton Anaheim on Friday, Jan. 17, 2020. Waite says he’s pleased to be part of the Parnelli Awards. “When it comes to showtime, the road crew are the real heroes of the night,” he says. “They make the whole thing come together. Without them I wouldn’t be here today. I owe them my career.”

This year, the international music festival NAMM Musikmesse Russia, and Prolight + Sound NAMM Russia, the international trade fair of technologies and services for entertainment, integrated systems and creation welcomed 12,914 visitors to Moscow’s Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Centre from September 12 to 14, 2019. At NAMM Musikmesse Russia, three main areas of the show welcomed visitors with education sessions, a live show, and an exposition space.

On Wednesday, September 25, NAMM’s Museum of Making Music (MoMM) and Friends of San Pasqual Academy raised a combined $236,000 at a “Concert for a Cause,” headlined by the legendary band Creedence Clearwater Revisited. Nearly 400 generous music fans and local community and arts leaders gathered at the show to support efforts to give foster youth a brighter future through music. The concert, held at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, California, marked one of the most successful benefits in MoMM’s history.

CARLSBAD, Calif. – September 4, 2019 - The NAMM Oral History Program celebrated a milestone with the capture and publication of its 4,000th interview which featured Meyer Sound co-founder Helen Meyer.

Earlier today at the CITES (Conference on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna) Conference of the Parties (CoP18) in Geneva, Switzerland, NAMM hosted a gathering of more than 100 key stakeholders to gain understanding of the conservation efforts and policy complexities facing musicians and musical instrument makers which included CITES management authority officials, conservation organizations, and music industry representatives.

From insightful, business-advancing professional development sessions and networking events, to the latest in new gear from established and emerging brands, the music products and pro audio industries convened in Nashville last week for Summer NAMM (July 18-20), the industry's annual mid-year gathering. NAMM members prepared for the year ahead through buying new products and making all-important reconnections on the show floor.

Earlier today at Summer NAMM, the NAMM Board of Directors continued the organization’s legacy of service to the industry at-large with a vote and seamless transition of the Executive Committee. Representing a balanced composition of retail and commercial members, the board vote sees Chris Martin, previously NAMM’s Vice Chair, move into the role as Chair of NAMM’s Board of Directors. Chris Martin is the sixth-generation owner and CEO of C.F. Martin & Co.®, a leading manufacturer of acoustic guitars and strings, based in Nazareth, Pennsylvania.

Earlier this evening at Summer NAMM, in a special celebration of the spirit of the independent retailer, the industry gathered at the Top 100 Dealer Awards to applaud the accomplishments, excellence and innovations of music retail from around-the-world and honor the contributions of music retailers to their local communities. Earlier today at Summer NAMM, the 35th Annual TEC Awards celebrated the pro audio and sound production nominees across the 23 Technical Achievement and eight Creative Achievement categories. A special product showcase from several nominated brands including Yamaha, Avid, BOSS, iZotope, Line 6, Rupert Neve Designs, PreSonus, Steinberg, and Eventide, served as a gathering point for the leaders in pro audio to acknowledge and celebrate the many innovative nominees.
